Scholarships to fund European wide vocational training for trainees attending vocational schools for social pedagogy

This project is carried out from Germany in cooperation with state vocational schools that offer the training as a nursery school teacher or an educator. The three years of training include a 20 or 24-week internship in the third year of training. For the first time it is possible to carry out this internship as well in other European countries (UK, ES, TR, AT and PL). The results of the internship will be certified in the host country and accepted in Germany by the schools. The learning outcomes of the internship are relevant and part of the final examination.
Educators in German cities are often confronted in their daily work with children and parents coming with an immigrant background. In Berlin, the numbers of kindergartens are increasing, which are mainly attended by children from immigrant backgrounds. In oposition to this, the educators are often without personal experiences of migration.
The following services are covered by the scholarship:
- Travel expenses (return flight or trip to host country and back home)
- Preparation in Berlin (interview and seminar – accommodated in a hotel in double rooms for non- resident participants)
- Transfer to the accommodation on arrival in the host country
- Cost for public transport (if necessary)
- Accommodation in shared apartment or host family
- Support in finding a suitable placement, mentoring and tutoring
- Language preparation in the host country
The Leonardo da Vinci scholarship covers about 70% of the cost and about 30% are to be taken in charge by the participants.
