Peking
While Shanghai ranks as the economic centre and Boomtown of China, Peking is the cultural and political capital and bears a rapidity of changes just the same. The development of the population makes this clear. In 1918 the number of citizens was around 800.000, while almost 90 years later it is ten times as much.
It is fascinating to experience the rapid growth combined with three thousand years of history in such close quarters.
An internship in a non-academic profession is still unusual in China. Travelling 10.000 kilometres for this reason still makes no sense to most of the Chinese citizens. The GEB also finds China full of surprises. Therefore we only select participants which prove flexibility and a great deal of adaptability.
Linguistically, internships also take place in English.

Shenyang
China has been becoming more and more a future partner of Germany and the European Union. Taking this into account, the GEB is offering internships and work placements in Shenyang. Take the opportunity to make a unique cultural and work-related experience in the economic centre of North China.
Shenyang is the capital of the province of Liaoning. In the south of Shenyang a large area has been developed into a high-tech zone where software is being produced. The scientists and engineers working there (many of them acquired experience in western countries) enjoy excellent working conditions and also financial incentives. Large numbers of modern companies offer great opportunities to climb the career ladder – also in other fields of work.
The city has two fairgrounds; one is used in order to present the Economy of North China and the other one is used for temporary topical fairs.
Having the Palace of the Manchu Dynasty and several graves of ancient emperors, Shenyang is an amazing and memorable place. The Forbidden City is the pioneer of the famous imperial city of Peking.
You do not need any knowledge of the Chinese language for you stay in Shenyang. Every internship or work placement can be made with English as working language.
