Homo Faber II

Occupation and qualification by foreign practical courses for young craftsmen in Europe
After the successful results of the project Homo Faber, Gesellschaft für Europabildung, in cooperation with the
Kompetenzzentrum International Beziehungen of the Friedrich-List-Schule of Berlin, will carry out the second part of the project between autumn 2007 and spring 2008: 40 German students of handcraft professions will have the opportunity of carry out a training period in Barcelona (Spain),
Naples (Italy), Belfast (United Kingdom) and Wroclaw (Poland).
In the exchange project, the promoters encourage and facilitate the exchange of young students for training periods in the institutions.
We will identify placement opportunities, select suitable tasks for the students, arrange supervision and support for the participant
and seek to provide the trainees with Europass mobility certification.
Placement should provide a structured on the job training according to the sectors and goals of the LEONARDO DA VINCI
programme as well as to the work programme the partners agreed about.
Some of the main objectives of our project Homo Farber II include:
- Improving education quality standards towards a deeper orientation re the demands of the European labour market.
- Increasing the competences of young workers and jobseekers from the technical professions in Berlin and Brandenburg.
- Raising the competence of trainers and occupational counsellors in their endeavours to prepare their students and pupils for entering the international labour market.
- Evaluating the project in reference to the possibilities of transformation through employment policies
in an international context.
- Establishing lasting relations with McClure Watters, our partner in Belfast. Together with the partners we will do our utmost to promote
European collaboration , agree to the dissemination and transfer of results during the forthcoming period of mutual co-operation and following the
“Partnership Quality Commitment” requirements.
Definitely, we will do our best to ensure the excellent quality of the project. The partners (Barcelona Voluntaria, Crescent School, A.C.I.I.E.F.
and Semper Avanti) also investigate for further joint activities and projects within the actions of the LEONARDO DA VINCI programme as well as other possible Community initiatives of common interest.
