International Contact Making Seminar about the European identity and integration in order to create a network

Associação Mais Cidadania (Plus Citizenship Association) is a youth, non profit, non-governmental association, not associated with any political parties, with a group of young associates with very different backgrounds. Its main goal is to promote citizenship, believing that the word is being build up according to our ability.

 

The Association develops its activity to democratize skills and abilities to more positive attitudes and practices in our “living together” – societies that are more participated, more solidarity and inclusiveness, therefore more democratic and humans. It works in three main areas:

 

a) Investigation, discussion and production of didactic materials;

b) Projects on Citizenship Education (Ready to Vote Projects);

c) Participation in society (serving the community of Santa Catarina, where the headquarters of the Association is).

 

In order to go on building projects and networks with other European organisations, the portuguese association has organized a contact making seminar with the support of the European Comission thought the Youth Programme. During ten days of February of 2008, two representants of NGO from

Bulgaria, Poland, Germany, Italy, Slovaquia and Bulgaria will meet in Lisboa in order to search new possibilities of partnerships and building up new projects. Gesellschaft für Europabildung will be one of these organisations.



Creation of a network

The main goal of this meeting will be the creation of a network between the organisations that will take part in the CMK. The

main objectives of this network would be:

 

- Develop strategies of comunication and cooperation that sustain partnerships.

- Identify financial and logistic resources necessary to the management of international partnerships.

- Identify existing means for supporting a continuous work based on international partnerships.

- Establish contact with national and international entities that support the creation/developpment of partnerships.

-  Develop cooperation strategies. Developpment of a network of information and cooperation between Associação Mais Cidadania and the international partners.

 

The network has the goal of keeping in contact the several partners of the network and becoming a source of information on the subject of citizenship. Therefore, the Network will be a work instrument through the creation of a forum.
