Consume with Education

Seminar for trainers, youth leaders, politiciants and teachers from 13 European countries. The seminar would focus on youth consumption. We will deal with consumption of energies, eating but also with environmental and ethic awareness,  as well as with the impact of advertising on youth consumption.

(8. - 11. September 2005 in Paris / Frankreich)

Workshops and discussions would allow the participants to present and debate on their national habits in the field of consumption,  in order to compare the situation and the solutions in case of immoderate and irresponsible consumption in the participating countries.
After analysing different ways of consumption, practical workshops capitalizing the different experiences should allow to exchange and invent some pedagogical games and tools.

Aims :
The aim of the seminar is to educate young consumers by making them aware of the challenges of a responsible and sustainable consumption,  taking in account public health, conservation of the environment and fairness between producers and consumers. That means to go against advertising spots intended to young people.
The challenge is to make young people understand that ordinary and daily habits can contribute to a responsible consumption; and that on their own level they can be actor of this process.
The pedagogical tools created during the seminar could be used by youth leaders for youth exchanges, summer camps, youth centres, schools etc…

Participant:
Youth leaders, young people attending a youth leader training, whoever involved in youth activities and who thinks this seminar could help him in his work
